For the second year running Seaton Academy and Ashfield Infants came together at St Joseph’s School to play a Table Tennis challenge match. Both Schools show a healthy interest in the Sport and have had some form of Coaching over the past year and those skills were soon in use as 32 timed matches took place in a frantic hour of great play.
Organiser and Sports Development Officer at St Joseph’s David Wise commented; “Both Schools are very keen to get their children into competition and Table Tennis is one of those wonderful Sports that appeals to everyone”. “Ashfield have only just started their coaching whilst Seaton have been playing all year round and that was reflected in the scoreline (Seaton won) but many matches were close and went down to the very last point with everyone getting points on the board”. Table Tennis is one of our growth Sports here at St Joseph’s where we have lunch, after School and family clubs and I am hopeful that by getting the children playing at such a young age and with the key stage 2 event earlier this year we can have a progression straight through to Secondary School”.
