St Joseph’s School recently hosted the Workington Primary Schools’ Table Tennis competition for the second year with St Patrick’s the victors again.
Teams of 4 key stage 2 children plus a member of staff played 105 matches in just under 90 minutes officiated by year 8 Sports Leader students from St Joseph’s along with Referee and Sports Development Officer David Wise.
The event is different to others as a member of staff makes up the team and as they play last their match is often the decider as children from both Schools cheer them on.
David commented; “It’s an event where team participation is taken to another level because of the staff involvement”. “It is so good to see the children rooting for their Teacher and also good for the Teacher to see what it’s like to play for their School”.
In all there were 7 teams from 4 Schools (35 competitors) taking part and we are already looking forward to 2019’s event.
