112 Key stage 2 children descended on the new sports hall at St Joseph’s School on Tuesday the 16th of October to take part in the annual St Joseph’s cluster Dodgeball competition.

14 teams from 7 Schools had spent the weeks leading up to the event practising their throwing, catching, blocking and dodging skills and that was in evidence as the level of competitive play was fantastic with a frantic 90 minutes of play seeing 24 matches fought out at an incredible pace.

The semi finals saw group winners Derwent Vale A, Ashfield B and both Beckstone teams play two brilliant matches with Ashfield and Beckstone B making the final which was won by Ashfield making them champions for 2018!

Organiser and Sports Development Officer David Wise was delighted with the turn out and level of skill on display; “Dodgeball competitions are always high energy events and this one didn’t disappoint”, “Energy levels were very high and it was really good to see so many young children enjoying themselves so much”.

The new year 8 Sports Leaders from St Joseph’s were assisting Mr Wise and they did the School proud; “This was the first event they have helped with but they were so polite and helpful and I feel that they are going to have a very successful year leading at the other events I have planned”.
