A local organisation BEC (a property, development and regeneration company) based in West Cumbria were invited into school to collaborate on a project to entice our year 9 students to present in a public platform. The company made the students aware of concepts such commerciality, sustainability and renewable energy; outlining that all proposed ideas should be realistic.
On the 27th June the year 9 cohort participated in the regeneration project.
The students were tasked to plan and prepare a proposal and presentation. This was to support how they would regenerate their local area. This was an exciting opportunity for many of our year 9 students.
The winning teams:
Team 1- Jaden Taylor,
Team 2- Lauren Moore, McCauley McGuiness, Jessica Haile, Connor Sharples, Bethany Duncan, Cheyenne Holborrow.
The BEC team offered all members involved the opportunity to present their proposed idea to industry professionals!
Within the final feedback, BEC’s comments included: ‘The idea is futuristic, ambitious and impressive well done’
This collaboration did not only allow a platform for public speaking, but also offered insight into the world of work; enabling the students to have a voice and opinion regarding the development of their local area. It was very evident that this topic was very important to all.
Well done to all of our Year 9 students involved. You were a credit to the school and yourselves!
