SPORTS LEADERS ROUND OFF THEIR YEAR OF VOLUNTEERING WITH PLAUDITS RINGING IN THEIR EARS!

The year 8 Sports Leaders ended their year of helping at festivals by Umpiring the Tennis leg of the prestigious Cumbria School Games at Chatsworth Tennis Club in Carlisle. Our 8 leaders, along with 16 Tennis leaders from Netherhall School expertly Umpired over 240 matches in a very high tempo and high octane environment with impressively glowing endorsements from Primary School Teachers, Parents and staff from the club on how well they had performed and how polite they were too.

Naturally, Sports Development Officer David Wise was delighted with the day’s efforts from the year 8 students; “Our leaders have learned so much this year and have officiated at Table Tennis, Rounders, Dodgeball, Multi Skills and 3 Tennis events and it has been good to see they grow their skills, knowledge and maturity”. “The School Games is the highlight of the Primary Schools’ sporting calendar so the pressure is very high to get things right so I was very pleased with the comments received today”. “I really hope that the excellent year they have had will see them carry on their volunteering in the future”.
