Beckstone Primary School are over the moon again after keeping their hands on the St Joseph’s Football trophy for another year.

As usual, the event was very competitive with 7 Schools fielding teams with some excellent team play on show as well as some amazing individual skills. It’s very evident that the Coaches of junior teams in Workington are producing some very talented players and teams and it made for a very entertaining event.

After our group stages it was hard to pick a winner with Ashfield, St Gregory’s and the 2 Beckstone teams coming through to the semi finals. After 2 titanic battles Ashfield and Beckstone A were the semi-final victors meaning they would meet again (they met in the group stages) in the final.

The group stage match was pretty one-sided in favour of Beckstone but the final was far more even and it was nip and tuck until a late flurry of goals meant that Beckstone ran out winners 3-0.

The event was very well Refereed by St Joseph’s year 10 students, Tyler Lister, Finlay Smith, Leo Telford and Connor Lomas.
