Year 8 Football

Our Year 8 football team travelled to Newman School this evening to play in the County cup semi final. St Joseph’s took the lead early with a well executed close range shot from Spencer Bland. Unfortunately Newman School hit straight back and scored from an error at the back. The score stayed at 1-1 until the second half. Unfortunately St Joseph’s had a nightmare start to the second half conceding two goals within 2 minutes of the game restarting. After a couple of changes to the lineup we started to play much better and slowly regained our confidence, bagging a goal from a excellent strike from Callum Bell. We then scored another soon after from a well taken corner where Owen Johnson volleyed the ball into the back of the net. The game continued at 3-3 until the last 2 minutes when Owen Johnson blasted a volley into the top corner to take the win and give St Joseph’s the chance of silverware in the up coming final. Well done lads, we are very proud of you.
