ST PATRICK’S EDGE THRILLING TABLE TENNIS COMPETITION

The annual Key Stage 2 Table Tennis event at St Joseph’s School proved to be as exciting as ever as St Patrick’s pipped Beckstone in one of the most thrilling finals we have seen.

The Table Tennis event is a unique one in the Cumbrian sporting calendar as accompanying staff members and helpers are also part of the 5 strong team. Each of the 4 students play their individual matches (rubbers) and are then followed by their adults in what is often a deciding rubber. The excitement is then raised a few levels as the children cheer them on!

The event, which attracted 10 teams from 6 Schools was Umpired by the year 8 Sports Leaders from St Joseph’s and Sports Development Officer David Wise was naturally very proud of them; “Our leaders performed admirably again today and once again were a credit to the School and their Parents”. “This was only the second event they have officiated at but they showed so much maturity and responsibility”.
