As you are aware St Joseph’s School has remained fully open until this point and I would like to thank the staff, students, parents and carers for their unrelenting support and understanding at this unique and challenging time. Advice changes daily regarding coronavirus and we are ensuring the school keeps fully up to date with all the latest developments issued by Public Health England, The Department for Education and government officials.
Unfortunately, due to high staff absence I have made the difficult decision to close the school to students in Year 9. We anticipate that Year 9 students will be out of school for the remainder of this week. This is regrettable, but my priority is the safety and well-being of all students on the school site and the sheer number of staff not able to attend school as they would normally do mean this decision has been taken.
If you are a parent/carer who works in the Health Care industry, please continue to send your son/daughter to school despite the year group closure. As Headteacher, I feel we need to support the health service at this very difficult time and allowing your child to still attend school is one way of doing this. Children will join another year group and follow an agreed timetable. At the point of any full school closure this provision will be reviewed. There is no obligation to accept this offer if you have made other arrangements, but please do let the school know in writing if you intend to take up the offer and continue to send your child to school.
Please check your child has their log in and password to access their work, if not email firstname.lastname@example.org to request details also if your Year 9 child does not have a Knowledge Organiser these can be collected from school. Work is now set on the school website. Lunch can still be provided for Free School Meals students, please ring and request and we will arrange for this to be provided.
Thank you for your continued support we will continue to post a daily message on our website.
