WORKINGTON SCHOOLS SERVE UP A FANTASTIC AFTERNOON OF TABLE TENNIS

The annual staff and pupil primary school Table Tennis event took place at St Joseph’s school on Tuesday the 22nd of February and what a cracker it was! The competition is unique because the accompanying staff member is also part of the team, playing the often crucial fifth rubber and it gives a real sense of togetherness with a little bit of fun thrown in!

With year 9 leaders from St Joseph’s in charge of proceedings the scene was set for a day of excellent Table Tennis.

The event attracted 7 Schools (14 teams of 5 players) with the level of play very high and the sportsmanship even higher and after two very entertaining hours (and 20 matches and 100 rubbers) of very competitive matchplay we ended up with Beckstone and St Patrick’s in the final with Beckstone coming through 4 rubbers to 1 to regain the title they won a couple of years ago.

Sports Development Officer Mr Wise enthused; “This is one of the best events of our sporting calendar as it’s so good to see the staff members getting to be part of the competition rather than just supervising”. “Our sports leaders managed proceedings fantastically well and it was a good day all round”

Our next event is year 3 and 4 Football on the 29th of March.
