Next Steps – Information for Year 11 Leavers

If you are intending on going to college and have not yet applied, please do this asap, they are still accepting applications via their websites.
Apprenticeships:
The picture for individual apprenticeships is still unclear, however Inspira are contacting training providers on our behalf concerning the next stages of the application process and will keep school up to date with any developments.  Keep searching the apprenticeship database (https://www.gov.uk/apply-apprenticeship) and follow relevant businesses on their websites and social media to see how they are dealing with the current crisis.

 

Sixth Form:
Those of you going on to study A Levels, use your new found free time wisely and start doing some A Level reading and/or GCSE revision for the subjects you are planning to take. The following FREE websites could be useful:
www.s-cool.co.uk has theory and activities for a range of A Level subjects.
www.senecalearning.com has theory and short activities for a wide range of GCSE and A Level courses.
Finally, I am planning on putting together a list of free online short courses that you could complete which would look great on your CVs – more information to follow.

Miss Davidson

We said goodbye to Miss Davidson on Friday. Miss Davidson works in the pastoral team and has looked after a number of year groups over her time at St Joseph’s. She is going to work for a charity that supports families. As her year group – Year 9 – was not in school on Friday, we said goodbye on your behalf. Please leave some lovely messages for Miss Davies. She has supported many students over the last three and a half year and we need to give her a brilliant social media send off.

PART TIME SENIOR SCIENCE TECHNICIAN

PCD5A £18,319 to £18,672 pro rata £9.50 to £9.68 per hour
We require a Science Technician to work as part of a team in our busy
science department for 15 hours over two days per week. Applicants
should have a science background and previous experience working in a
school would be an advantage.
Technicians support the practical and technical aspects of the science
curriculum by preparing, maintaining, organising and managing the
resources required for healthy, safe, secure and exciting lessons to be
carried out by staff and students

PART TIME SENIOR DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGY/ART TECHNICIAN

Term time only – PCD5A £18,319 to £18,672 pro rata £9.50 to £9.68 per hour

The technician will support Design, Technology and Art organising,
preparing and managing resources for lessons as well as maintaining
equipment and machinery. The posts is for 15 hours over three days per
week. Applicants will preferably have experience of working with tools
and equipment, although full training will be given. Previous experience of
working in a school would be an advantage.
