What will students Learn?
We follow the Edexcel specification for Business Studies. All lessons are taught by Miss Jackson in BE2.
Students taking Business Studies should have a good grasp of the English Language due to the amount of extended writing required, it is also an advantage to be confident working with numbers as there are several finance modules throughout key stage 4.
During year 10 continue to investigate various issues involved in setting up and running a small business or franchise. They will develop basic business skills and be taught general business theories. They will then move on to consider how large businesses operate and the issues that face them as they grow.

At least 10% of work is of a mathematical nature. Specifically, this involves the manipulation and interpretation of numerical data.
How will students be assessed?
Students will be assessed regularly in class and via completion exam style questions given for homework.
In addition, formal assessments will take place three times as follows:
January – Exam mock paper primarily covering theme 1 with extended writing tasks (1, 2, 3, 6 and 9-mark questions).
March – Mock exam paper covering first three modules of unit 1 and several extended writing tasks adapted from previous years exam papers (1,2, 3, 6 and 9-mark questions).
May – End of year 10 Mock exam paper – students will be given a full past GCSE paper for theme 1 and a number of questions from theme 2. (1,2, 3, 6, 9 and 12-mark questions).
