The content of the curriculum at St Joseph’s is being reviewed due to the recent closure of the school due to Covid.
Once the students are back at school, the staff will determine the full year’s curriculum and the plans will be published.
A broad overview of the students’ curriculum for the Autumn term is contained in the Year 7 and Year 8 Knowledge Organiser.

Year 7
Year 7 have 30 lessons: 4 English, 4 Maths, 2 PE, 3 RE, 3 Science, 3 French, 2 History, 2 Geography, 1 Computer Science, 1 RP, and 4 lessons of Art, Technology, Performing Arts or Food on alternative weeks. Year 7 also have a Current affairs/literacy lesson.
Students are organised into five teaching groups.

Year 8
Year 8 have 30 lessons: 4 English, 4 Maths, 2 PE, 3 RE, 4 Science, 3 Spanish, 2 History, 2 Geography, 1 Computer Science, 1 RP, and 4 lessons of Art, Design & Technology, Performing Arts or Food on alternative weeks.
Students are organised into five teaching groups.
Set five have one literacy lessons in place of one Spanish lesson.

Year 9
Year 9 have 30 lessons: 4 English, 4 Maths, 2 PE, 3 RE, 4 Science, 2 French, 2 History, 2 Geography, 1 Computer Science, 1 RP, 1 Business Studies and 4 lessons from our creative subjects (Art and Design, Fine Art, Applied Art, Design & Technology, Performing Arts, Media Studies, Food Technology) on alternative weeks.
Students are organised in to 5 teaching groups
Set five have one literacy lessons in place of one French lesson.

Year 10 and 11
Year 10 and Year 11 have 30 lessons including GCSE options. The core subjects are: English 5, Maths 5, Science 6, RE 3 and 1 PE. Each student has three options with 3 lessons each and 1 literacy lesson for sets 3-5. Sets 1 and 2 have an extra Science lesson.
