Headteacher’s Welcome

Welcome to St Joseph’s – a good Catholic school in Workington

When we moved into our 90th birthday year in September 2019, little did we realise that this was going to be a challenging year.

Now it is Autumn term 2020, we can look back and see that the principles that we promote in our school have stood us in good stead through the recent crisis. Although we were not here in person every day, our staff and students have shown that we are a real family in times of crisis and we have looked out for each other and supported each other as St Joseph’s school teaches.

We have a Mission Statement which captures what we are about in carefully chosen words. We have learned this year that this statement stands true whether we are together in person or not. Our #Living #Loving #Living focus means that we set high standards to create a school where we work hard but where we have joy and celebration too. Our aim is to live this every day.

We are proud that our school is Ofsted Good and has good exam results, but we are also proud that this is a school where students are cared for and where everyone becomes part of the St Joseph’s family.

If you have never been to our school, we would love to show you around. How we do that in the current situation, we are still trying to work out.

Email Julie.Gaffney@sjchs.uk if you would like to visit, and we can chat to you about  how best to arrange this for you.
