At Key Stage 3, students study a broad and balanced overview of Britain and the wider world over a period covering the last 950 years. Some areas are covered in overview, some in depth and others are developed through local studies.

Year 7
• ‘Medieval England’
• ‘The Tudaors and Stuarts’
• ‘The industrial revolution’

Year 8
• ‘The Roman Empire’ including ‘The Romans in Cumbria’ – a local case study (with site visit)
• ‘The Causes and Course of the First World War’
• ‘The Rise of Nazi Germany and the Second World War’ (including the Holocaust)
• ‘The cold war and the Role and Impact of Terrorism in the Modern World’
