Wednesday 17th May: Aspiration

Sign of the Cross

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen

Aspiration – having a goal, a dream to work towards.

In the musical ‘South Pacific’ one of the songs is about having a dream for your life, it goes like this:

‘Happy talk, keep talkin’ happy talk, talk about things you’d like to do.

You got to have a dream, If you don’t have a dream, How you gonna have a dream come true?’

(Sounds better when sung!)

 It’s true that if we don’t even have a dream for our life how can it come true? Of course, it’s important to think carefully and choose sensibly about our aims and goals in life. Midas was granted his dream that everything he touched should turn to gold, but then he touched the person he loved…

It’s also important not to limit our goals or narrow our horizons, saying, ‘I couldn’t do that, I’m not good enough’. There is a saying, ‘Always aim for the moon, even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars!’

When thinking about the future take seriously the thoughts of those who know you best: parents, grandparents, guardians, teachers – others can sometimes know you better than you know yourself!

Lastly, and most importantly, don’t forget God believes in you and he made you for a definite purpose, even if you don’t know yet what that is. So, pray for his guidance.

Prayer: Lord, you created us to surpass all expectations. Give us the strength to look beyond our limits and achieve the ‘impossible’ Amen

Our Father who art in Heaven,
Hallowed be thy name;
Thy kingdom come
Thy will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
And forgive us our trespasses
As we forgive those who trespass against us;
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.

Our Lady Queen of Peace pray for us.

St Joseph pray for us

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
