Key Stage 4: Years 9, 10 and 11

At KS4, students follow the AQA Art and design, photography specification where assessment is based upon the 4 objectives of research, cultural understanding, outcome and development of ideas.  Students work on personalised learning programmes, based upon inspiring themes. Students are encouraged to explore all aspects of light-based media to develop their own resulting in engaging and technically skilled outcomes. Students are encouraged to use the facilities and expertise available within the department in their own time, be it lunchtime or after school.

Careers using Photography:

Photography prepares students for careers in many aspects of photography, such as photojournalism, fashion photography, family portraiture, wedding and events as well as many other Artistic careers such as architecture, graphic design, 3 dimensional design, illustration, animation, gaming design, advertising, set design, publishing, web design, art therapy, art history and teaching, museum and curator work as well as generally nurturing their creative side, problem solving skills and many more transferable skills that would be useful in a variety of fields.
