Friday 7th April: Holy Week

The Sign of the Cross

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Reflection

While next week is the first week of the school holidays, it is also the last week of Lent, known as Holy Week. Here is how the drama of Holy Week unfolds:

Prayer

Please, Lord, guide my mind with your truth.
Strengthen my life by the example of Jesus.
Help me to be with Jesus in this Holy Week
as he demonstrates again his total love for me.
He died so that I would no longer
be separated from you.
Help me to feel how close you are
and to live in union with you.

Amen.

Dear Father in heaven,
Thank you for the gift of life you have given us. Thank you for the people you have made us to be. Help us to live our lives to the full.
Open our hearts to receive your love so that we, in return, can show love and respect to everyone in our school community, our families and our friends.
Send us your Holy Spirit so we can achieve excellence in our learning and do our personal best in all areas of school life.
May we always live, love and learn through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

The Sign of the Cross

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Reflection

The theme of this school week is: Generosity. Let’s reflect on the generosity of Jesus, as he freely gave His life for us, which we particularly remember at this time of year during Lent.

Prayer

Lord,
your commandment of love is so simple
and so challenging.
Help me to let go of my pride,
to be humble in my penance.
I want only to live the way you ask me to love,
to love the way you ask me to live.
I ask this through your son, Jesus,
who stands at my side
today and always.

Amen.

The theme of this school week is: Reconciliation. But first, what is Lent again?

The Sign of the Cross

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Reflection

Let’s just spend a moment in silence to reflect on what we have seen, and to listen to God.

Prayer

God who created me,
You offer me new life through your Son
and through the gift of your sacraments.
While I see new life all around me,
I don’t always recognize the new life you offer me.
Help me to grow this Lent in an awareness
of the gifts you place in my life
and in a greater appreciation for your care.
Give me the courage to ask for help. In Jesus name.

Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of death. Amen.

Loving God,
you call us back to you with all of our hearts.
I feel your call for me deep in my heart

Please, Lord,

Make my journey back to you this Lent
one of grace, forgiveness and gentle love. Amen.

Wednesday 1st March: Ash Wednesday

The Sign of the Cross

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Reflection

Today is Ash Wednesday, the beginning of the church season of Lent. Lent is the 40 days of preparation for Easter. Lets hear more about today and Lent:

Prayer from the Ash Wednesday Mass

Grant, O Lord, that we may begin with holy fasting
this campaign of Christian service,
so that, as we take up battle against spiritual evils,
we may be armed with weapons of self-restraint.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.

Amen.

Our Father who art in Heaven,
Hallowed be thy name;
Thy kingdom come
Thy will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
And forgive us our trespasses
As we forgive those who trespass against us;
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil. Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of death. Amen.

Our Lady Queen of Peace pray for us.
