Thursday 26th January: Prayer to Start the Day

The theme of this school week is: Holocaust.

The Sign of the Cross

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Prayer

from the Holocaust Memorial Day prayer book.

God of all human experience, when one life is lost, it is as if the whole world is destroyed. Help us to be alert to the injustices of history and of our present. Where life is abused, unwelcomed, excluded or destroyed equip us to challenge and bring change.

God of all human hope, when one life is saved, the entire world is saved. Help us to fight for life beyond injustice, genocide and even death itself. Though we ask how we can go on after our hearts have been broken, may we find strength and joy in the future unknown.

We ask these prayers in the name of the one who challenges and calls us, Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.

Our Lady Queen of Peace pray for us.

St Joseph pray for us

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Prayer

Lord,
May all that we do this day,
from morning until night,
begin with your inspiration,
and continue with your powerful help.
May our work this day
be rooted in love and mercy,
that we might love you,
and love our neighbors,
as perfectly as you love us.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of death. Amen.

The theme of this school week is: Talents.

The Sign of the Cross

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, grant us strength and wisdom to share
our talents in ways that honour and enlighten
all whom we encounter, and all who we knowingly or unknowingly influence.

Help us, Lord, to walk our special paths
kindly and courageously in a manner
that enriches all whom we meet
on our life’s journey.

May our way be bright, safe and joyous!
In living each day, guided by You,
may we create a noble life,
be of help to many others
and leave behind lasting achievements
and an inspiring legacy.

All this I pray to You,

Amen

Our Father who art in Heaven,
Hallowed be thy name;
Thy kingdom come
Thy will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
And forgive us our trespasses
As we forgive those who trespass against us;
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.

Scripture

“Not that I am speaking of being in need,
for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content.
I know how to be brought low,
and I know how to abound.
In any and every circumstance,
I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger,
abundance and need.
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
– Philippians 4:11-13

Prayer

Dear Father, I pray that I will stay focused on you today.  I pray that You will constantly remind me to be content in all of my circumstances.  I pray that You will fill me up that I may be joyful all day, even if stress creeps in.  I know that through my contentment, You will be glorified.  I want to honor You, Father, in all that I do.  I praise Your Holy Name.

Amen.

St Joseph pray for us

Prayer

Lord Jesus,
I give you my hands to do your work
I give you my feet to go your way
I give you my eyes to see as you do
I give you my tongue to speak your words
I give you my mind that you may think in me
I give you my spirit that you may pray in me
Above all, I give you my heart
that you may love in me
your Father and all mankind
I give you my whole self that you may grow in me
so that it is you Lord Jesus
who live and work and pray in me.

Amen.

Our Father who art in Heaven,
Hallowed be thy name;
Thy kingdom come

Good-morning-jesus

Prayer

Good Morning Jesus!
You are ushering in another day,
untouched and freshly new.
So here I am to ask you, God,
if You’ll renew me too.

Forgive the many errors that I made yesterday
and let me try again dear God
to walk closer in Your way.

But Lord, I am well aware,
I can’t make it on my own.
So take my hand and hold it tight,
for I cannot walk alone.

Amen.

School is not always easy,
And some days, it is very difficult,

and you will help me love others,
as you love me.

Starting the day with prayer was always important to the early Christians and their prayers often invoked the presence of the Trinity – Father, Son and Spirit – to be with them through their often hard toil on the land, and to herald in the new day with God at its centre!

Prayer

Bless this day
all that I might see,
all that I might hear,
all that I might smell,
all that I might say.
Bless this day
all that I might serve,
all that I might comfort,
all that I might help,
all that I might guide.
Bless this day

Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of death. Amen.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Good-Morning-Bless-wg11272

Prayer

This is another day, O Lord. I know not what it will bring forth, but make me ready, Lord, for whatever it may be. If I am to stand up, help me to stand bravely. If I am to sit still, help me to sit quietly. If I am to lie low, help me to do it patiently. And if I am to do nothing, let me do it gallantly. Make these words more than words, and give me the Spirit of Jesus. Amen.

We turn to Mary, Mother of God, asking her to pray for us:

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of death. Amen.

Our Lady Queen of Peace, pray for us

St Joseph, pray for us.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
