Last week we hosted our second Benchball Festival of the year, welcoming 9 primary schools to take part! After the fantastic Year 5 & 6 event in October, this time it was the turn of the Year 3 & 4 children to showcase the skills they've been perfecting in their PE lessons. What followed was a day full of high-energy, competitive, and exciting matches, all expertly officiated by our incredible sports leaders – huge thanks to them for their hard work! Congratulations to Beckstone for clinching victory in a nail-biting final against St. Patrick’s! Well done to everyone who participated – you all made it an unforgettable event! #SJCHS #Workington #cumbria #SJCHSSports #primarysports #primarype #BenchballFestival #PrimarySchoolSports #Teamwork #Sportsmanship #PE
Last Friday, our Year 9 and 10 students heard from Sergeant Laura Smyth from Cumbria Police on the important topic of Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG), as part of our Personal Development curriculum. Laura shared valuable insights on the dangers women and girls face and empowered students to "call it out" — whether in their own lives or among friends. During the thought-provoking and interactive session, students listened carefully and engaged well, giving some great input to discussions with their peers.Laura also highlighted where to seek help if needed and we can share this if you or someone you know would like support, please don’t hesitate to reach out. The St. Joseph's 2024 Reverse Advent Calendar Appeal is here! We’re thrilled to kick off this year’s Reverse Advent Calendar Appeal for the North Lakes Foodbank! This initiative has been an incredible success in previous years and last year we donated an amazing 301.1kg of supplies to help families in our local community. Let’s aim to beat that total this year! The collection boxes are now in form groups and just like last year, the form group with the most filled boxes will win an exciting prize. Remember, every single donation counts. Whether it’s a tin of soup, a packet of pasta, or a sweet treat, every little helps and makes a huge difference to those in need. Together, let’s spread hope and kindness this festive season. Let’s do this, St. Joseph’s! #SJCHS #Workington #ReverseAdventCalendar #NorthLakesFoodbank #Community #EveryLittleHelps
