Key Stage 4
Year 10 and 11 students study our Key Stage 4 curriculum. Each subject has clear aims and ambitions for their students so that knowledge and understanding will grow, and students will be ready and successful in the next stage of their learning to achieve their best.
Students study a core curriculum of English Language, English Literature, Math’s, Religious Education and Science. Some students will study a Science course which is two Science GCSEs and others will study Biology, Chemistry and Physics leading to three GCSEs in Science. In addition, all students will have PE and Personal Development lessons which are non-examined.
Students also have two further subjects that they study from Art, Photography, Performing Art, Health and Social Care, Design and Technology, Food Technology, Business Studies, Computer Science, Digital Media, and Sports Science. Within this curriculum offer there is a small number of pupils who may need a bespoke offer, and this can include not studying an EBacc subject, or alternative options being studied.

St Joseph’s students experience a variety of additional learning opportunities and experiences, such as extracurricular activities, careers education, information and guidance (especially Post 16 opportunities), as well as cultural trips and visits. During form time students take part in oracy activities that reinforce the schools mission statement, develop character and resilience as well as reinforcing the values and virtues that are important to our community.
